Lower Phalen Creek Project (LPCP)

Lower Phalen Creek Project is an East Side St Paul-based organization whose mission is to engage people to honor and care for our natural places and the sacred sites and cultural value within them.

Environment and Animals

Community engagement, publicity/marketing, a passion for the environment/nature and culturally important and sacred natural sites, governmental/legislative connections, financial.

All Board Members are asked to donate financially to LPCP. However, there is no set amount and no minimum amount- anything that is meaningful to the individual.

Because LPCP is a small organization with only 2 staff and a relatively small board (7 members currently) and because of our history as a community started organization, the board is fairly hands-on and working. It is our role to ensure that LPCP is mission-driven as well as financially sustainable and that it adheres to the rules and regulations that govern non-profits. The Board works very closely with the Executive Director and offers feedback and advice on programs and projects as well as helps in planning fundraising events. The Board has two working committees at the moment: Development and Governance, board members are expected to serve on one of the committees. An Advisory Council also reports to the Board and the organization- sitting board members do not sit on the council but are encouraged to attend its meetings.
