Minnesota Literacy Council

Our mission is to share the power of learning through education, community building and advocacy. We provide direct service to literacy learners, support 300+ other literacy organizations statewide and advocate for the literacy cause at the local, regional and national levels.

Education and Research

We are open to a range of skills and experiences for new board members. Fundraising, marketing, community engagement and corporate connections are particular areas where we would welcome additional expertise at this time.

Board members complete a Personal Interest Form indicating the ways they would most like to engage with their board service; a range of subcommittee and special event options are available. All board members are invited to make an annual financial contribution at a level which is personally meaningful.

The literacy council is a 501(c)3 organization and our board of directors has the financial and governance responsibilities that accompany this volunteer role in Minnesota. Additionally, we invite all board members to play an active role in: advocating for the literacy cause, connecting our organization to the communities where we live and work and expanding our network of donors and other resources.
