The mission of Minnesota Ultimate is to advance the sport of Ultimate and Spirit of the Game by cultivating character, community, and competition in Minnesota. MN Ultimate serves as a state-based organization for USA Ultimate, the national governing body of Ultimate in the United States.
Public, Societal Benefit
The primary responsibility of the Board of Directors is to help facilitate quality ultimate playing opportunities for play through Minnesota Ultimate’s current and future programs. This is accomplished in several ways:
*Commitment to the ideals and objectives of the strategic plan.
*General oversight and governance of a program-based nonprofit.
*Attendance and participation at Board meetings. There are quarterly meetings (4) each year and occasionally special meetings as necessary.
*Be an engaged member of the ultimate community in MN. Board members should always be asking how we are doing, how we can do it better, and what else we should be doing.
*Participation in at least one other MN Ultimate committee.
*Demonstrate the desire and initiative to be in attendance at many events and programs, even if just for a brief appearance.
*Board members are organized, engaged, and responsive. *Between board meetings, and as organizational well-being demands, be engaged in board discussions through email.
*Be aware of current and upcoming programs and their structures, helping to promote them to the committee.
*Operate in an environment that challenges board members and their positions, but never abandon respect for your peers.
*Do not behave in any manner that may intentionally or inadvertently harm fellow board members, volunteers and staff, the community, or the organization.
