Board Repair Board Openings

A platform for prospective board/committee members of color to connect to nonprofit organizations with board openings. Nonprofits may submit a board opening to this list (Submit a board opening) with the commitment to pairing Board Repair candidates with a “Board Buddy” (existing board member with the organization).

BCLI (Board and Commissions Leadership Institute)

Nexus Community Partners (Nexus’) Boards and Commissions Leadership Institute (BCLI) is a 7-month leadership program that supports, trains and places people of color and other underrepresented community members on city and county publicly appointed boards and commissions that influence and impact equity in the Twin Cities Metro Area in economic development, health, housing, transit and workforce development.

They update their website regularly, and training like the linked “Neighborhood Board Representation Training” and the “Neighborhood Leadership and Organizing Training” can be searched through their website.

A Community Updates Page: It contains some resources pooled together for current and former BCLI fellows as well as a list of job opportunities, trainings and events forwarded to Nexus by our partners.

Nonprofits Assistance Fund

An online resource library includes many financial management articles, templates and videos to help nonprofits develop and implement effective practices.

MAP for Nonprofits

A library with links to various resources is a menu of the right, with resources regarding governance, leadership, strategic alignment and more.


A website with information as well as resources and solutions. Many of these resources require only email registration (free), while others are available only to active participants in one of BoardSource’s membership programs.


Charities Review Council: Accountability Standards

A write-up with a focus on creating a common ground across the nonprofit sector, with a series of benchmarks around governance, finance, fundraising, and public communication. Many of the standards are surrounding board roles and responsibilities.

Charities Review Council: Document Checklist

A list designed for the Charities Review Council “Accountability Wizard”, but it can also be used for new board members to familiarize themselves with the variety of documents nonprofit boards are either required to have or are recommended.
